Today I thought I would explain how to upgrade the drag on a Abu Revo Skeet and seeing how I’ll be tearing it down I figured I might as well service it at the same time.
I’m going to try something a little different, this post will be a video post, hopefully this will work. By the way, just a warning, the video is almost 30 minutes long so it might take a few minutes to load up so please be patient. Also, if you double click the video you can view it in full screen mode.
Disclaimer: Any servicing you do to your reel you do so at your own risk and I will not be held responsible for any damage caused.
One trick I thought of after making the video is after you remove the cover take a few pictures of the internals with your digital camera. That way, in the event that parts fall out you can compare your pictures with the schematic and you should be good to go.
Well, what did you think?

Paul,
It sounds to me your Revo S is just extremely dirty, then again you have had the reel for 6 years without popping the cover off, HA! Anyhow, the cover should come off with a little bit of force, just don’t overdue it.
Have you tried running something like a think screwdriver around the edge to break up any substance that might be holding it stuck?
You could try running warm water over it or maybe some light penetrating oil to loosen things up? If you do this then be sure to clean, dry and service the reel afterwards.
Like I said before, be careful not to apply to much force, if you cand open it with your hands, I would NOT suggest using pliers.

Mike,
I saw your video on servicing the Abu Garcia RevO S. I have had the reel for 6 years and this is the first time I am opening it for servicing. I unscrewed the thumb screw, twist the palm plate but it does not come loose. It seems to be stuck to the spool. I even tried wedging it loose but it is stuck pretty good. What do you think it is? Help.
Thanks,
Paul
