Awhile back I had to see if G. Loomis would honor their Lifetime Warranty even if Stupidity was involved and I am happy to say, yes. Let me fill you in a little bit.
A few years ago I went to Lake Isabella California to do some float tube bass fishing among the trees in the Wofford Heights area. I was having a great time flipping a jig deep in the brush and tossing a rip bait along edges and catching some nice bass, life is good.
At the end of a fun day I haul everything back to my truck, open the tailgate and proceed to load my Caddis Float Tube into the bed of my truck, I then placed 1 of my Loomis rods in the rod holder and proceed to close the tailgate, as soon as it slammed shut I realized that I had left my other Loomis rod between the truck and the tailgate, DARN! So I open the tailgate to free the rod and all I could think is, “Dang Mike, that was stupid! You just ruined a $225.00 rod, I wonder is they honor the warranty when stupidity was involved”
I arrive home and placed the call to Loomis thinking I was pretty much out of luck but was surprised what I found out. The person I talked to said that I would have to ship the rod in and they would determine if it broke while fishing under normal circumstances and I told him straight up what happened. He laughed and said that I was not the first person to do that. He then told me to ship the rod to them with $40.00 and they would replace it, which they did, talk about great customer service.
Another time I had to deal with a warranty issue with them was when I was fishing with a different Loomis rod, that was a custom wrapped rod, I set the hook on a fish and the rod actually snapped in half. I was not sure how the warranty would work with a custom made rod but figured I had to try so I placed the call. I explained the situation to him and once again was told it I ship them the rod, this time I only had to ship the bottom half, that had the Loomis Sticker, and they would send me a factory wrapped rod as long as they determined the rod broke under normal circumstances, which it did. Within a few days I received my new rod.
Not only are their rods great products but in my opinion their customer service is second to none. Give them a try, I know you will be impressed.
