I decided to take a fishing trip up north to the Owens Valley yesterday. The day started VERY slowly, first spot I only got 2 bites, missed them both Drove little further north, tried a couple spots for nothing. Drove up to the Bishop area and got 3 bites but only caught 1 about 8 inches. Headed south to a normally good spot, not a single bite but I did see A LOT of monster carp spawning on a shallow flat. Headed further south to another normally great area, got 2 bites missed them both. Drove to another spot that always produces bass and got 4, biggest being maybe 12 inches but at least I got a few. Thinking I’d had enough for the day because the bite was so slow I figured it was time to pack up sand head home
On the way out I was forced to stop at 1 last spot because workers were dredging weeds out of a canal about 1/2 miles down the road and had the road blocked so I couldn’t get by. I figured instead of sitting in the truck to wait I’d make a few casts. First cast, BAM, fish on. Released her, made another cast and the bite was ON!! I caught and released at least 35 bass within 45 minutes tops including 6 good solid fish that were in the 3-4 pound range. Then a tractor came by leveling the road and the bite went completely dead. By the way, ALL bass were safety released to fight another day
